Nadine’s Marathon Relay Finish

Ever since the modern Olympics graced Greece, there has been the Cayman Islands Marathon.

Back in 2004, this picturesque race got its start. It is both a marathon and half marathon that runs along the southern coast (known as South Sound) of Grand Cayman.

Today was the second time I had completed the race, and Nadine’s first. Great weather accompanied by a cool breeze made it ideal. Water stops manned by excited local organizations provided entertainment, Gatorade, and a jolt.

The main storyline of the marathon, other than CIS having two relay teams and me running without a shirt, was Derek Haines and his goal of raising a $1,000,000 to build a hospice center here on island. He did this by running six marathons in different locations of the world and completing his quest running his final race back here in the Cayman Islands.
