Once again during our summer travels, the family returned to the United States from Ecuador. The two oldest kids, Sophie and Dom, had a great time, so we asked for their observations. Here is Sophie’s.
An Eleven Year Old’s Observation of Ecuador
On June 18th we had started making our way to Quito, Ecuador. Just at the very end of all our plane rides, the captain said that we would have to go to the Guayaquil Airport because of an ash cloud in Quito. We waited in an airplane for four hours. Finally, we got off and went to our first destination: our friend Robyn’s house.
On this vacation we had two families with us. My family had my mom, dad, Dom, and I. The other family also had 4 other people, Metta, Greg, Adelle, and Walden. This other family were our close friends that we visit frequently.
In Quito, Ecuador we visited the plazas, where we just strolled looking at things in the store’s windows. We also visited the TelefériQo and el Mitad del Mundo which is the latitude 0’0’00”. I would recommend only a day or two there, because it is very busy. The next place we explored was Baños, Ecuador. Both families stayed at Abby’s Hideaway. It was a pleasant stay. There some of picked fruit like mandarins and lemons. In Baños, we went canopying, visited thermal pools, and walked around where we bought “I love Baños” t-shirts (Which means ‘I love bathrooms’ in Spanish) and found some delicious home-made taffy.
After Baños, we headed to Chugchilán, Ecuador. We stayed at the Black Sheep Inn, which is an eco-lodge that was my favorite place we stayed. It even had a yoga room where we hung out most of the time. I liked adventuring through Ecuador and would recommend visiting it. Thanks for reading about what my family did in ECUADOR!
