Equal Parts Power Takes on Discover Cayman Adventure Challenge
For the last ten years, the DMS Broadcasting and the Insurance Company of the West Indies have hosted the Discover Cayman Adventure Challenge.
Basically, in teams of four, you just had to complete ten tasks and do it quicker than everyone else.
The order of events were completely up to each individual team. And as Equal Parts Power (Team name sung to the tune of Naughty By Nature), we did the following:
Challenge #1 – Gun Club – Target Shooting
Challenge #2 ‐ King’s Sports Center – Rock Wall – Elena and myself were only able to make it up halfway up the wall, while Trey was the first of the day to make it up the entire rock face.
Challenge #3 ‐ Truman Bodden Sports Complex ‐ Playing Around the World in Basketball. This was supposed to be my money event, I only earned pennies.
Challenge #4 ‐ Plank Race over 15 yards. A left step, a right step, repeat 40 times while standing on a plank.
Challenge #5 ‐ Event of the Day – Slip-n-Slide Relay. There ain’t nothing like sliding for twenty yards on a big, blue tarpaulin and racing back with a big conch shell in your hand.
Challenge #6 ‐ Lion’s Pool – Diving relay for rings in various parts of the pool
Challenge #7 ‐ Smith Cove – This felt like Survivor running around picking up hidden puzzle pieces and then putting together a big puzzle
Challenge #8 ‐ Cayman Spirits Company – Running through sugarcane and pushing an empty rum barrel though an obstacle course was only half the fun. We had to celebrate the challenge with shots of rum afterwards.
Challenge #9 ‐ Starfish Village ‐ This just happened to be the least favorite of our team, and several others. Trying to avoid the deluge of rain, we waited outside 30 minutes to compete in the Balance Beam challenge where we only lasted 30 seconds.
Challenge #10 ‐ Governor’s Beach – We finished strong with our kayaking around buoys (see Youtube video)
