Planning our Around the World Trip

Around the World Travel Sleep Sheet

Nadine Trying Out Our New Sleep Sheet

As we sit here 4 months from our departure on our around the world travel to the great blue wonder, Nadine and I have planned this 9 month trip for a good 16 months. Whew, we could have completed the trip twice given the amount of time we spent planning it between Borders and Barnes and Noble. I know I have circled the globe a couple of times in my dreams.

We sit here excited, anxious, nervous. Do I really need that immunization? Really? What are the chances a dog bites me? Do we really want to go there when we could fit a week in Bali? Mosquitoes won’t and can’t be that bad. Yet among all the feelings that we’ve experienced, we are most excited for leaving the tarmac in San Antonio, Texas towards the start of our adventure on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

We’ve had several dream itineraries:
San Antonio – Guatemala (language school) – L.A. – Tahiti – Fiji – Cook Islands – 2 months in New Zealand – 2 months in Australia – Bali all the way to Hong Kong – India – Africa from tip to the north – all of Europe – back to the States.

This itinerary changed dramastically (drastically + dramatically) for several reasons. Nadine doesn’t want to be elderly by the time we actually complete the trip. We don’t have sufficient funds to keep us afloat unless I sell a kidney in Thailand to continue traveling.

Our current travel itinerary consists of departing the United States of America for the Cook Islands, New Zealand, Australia, overland from Singapore to Hong Kong (South East Asia), South Africa for a month, up to Portugal and wherever the wind blows and money allows us to be blown in Europe. Then we will make the trip home to Texas and starting another adventure . . . introducing little bambinos to this great world.

First entry is down, hope all enjoy our travels as much as we will!

Peace!
